How I Stay Inspired in a System That Often Fails Our Kids
Let’s be honest — the system wasn’t built for all of our children.
It wasn’t built for the child who learns differently.
It wasn’t built for the one who needs more time.
It wasn’t built for the nonspeaking child, the anxious child, the child who doesn’t “fit” the mold.
I’ve watched systems — schools, policies, therapies — overlook brilliance, punish difference, and ignore potential. I’ve seen children treated like problems to be fixed, rather than people to be understood. And I’ve watched caregivers carry guilt and grief that was never theirs to hold.
So, how do I stay inspired?
How do I keep showing up in spaces that feel broken?
Let me tell you. 💛
✊🏾 I Stay Inspired Because I See What the System Doesn’t
The system sees “challenging behaviour.”
I see a child trying to cope with an overwhelming world.
The system sees “delayed milestones.”
I see potential unfolding at its own divine pace.
The system sees “low-functioning.”
I see intelligence that isn’t packaged in traditional ways — but it’s there. Loud and clear.
I’ve worked with children whose voices were dismissed, whose minds were doubted, and whose spirits were almost crushed by judgment. And yet — they bloom.
Every single breakthrough, every eye-lighting moment, every brave attempt to try again — it reminds me why I do this work.
🧱 I Stay Inspired Because I Know the System Isn’t the Whole Story
Systems are structures — but they’re not everything.
Yes, schools matter. Yes, resources matter. But systems don’t raise children — people do.
I stay inspired because of the parents who keep advocating — even when they’re tired.
Because of the teachers who go beyond the curriculum to truly connect.
Because of the therapists who see the child before the diagnosis.
Because of the communities we build — that don’t wait for permission to believe in our kids.
In these moments, I see change.
Maybe not in policy, not yet — but in people. And people shift the world.
🌱 I Stay Inspired Because Growth Doesn’t Need Permission
Sometimes we wait for systems to improve before we act. But I’ve learned this: we can create healing, learning, and hope right now. In our homes. In our classrooms. In our clinics. In our everyday interactions.
Every time we presume competence…
Every time we choose patience over punishment…
Every time we celebrate effort over perfection…
We are building a new reality — even inside an old system.
🔥 I Stay Inspired Because the Kids Haven’t Given Up
Despite being misunderstood, underestimated, and sometimes mistreated — they try.
They come back. They show up. They keep learning, expressing, trusting.
If they haven’t given up, I won’t either.
✨ In Closing: You Are the Change the System Isn’t Ready For
If you’re reading this and you’ve ever felt defeated — you are not alone.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re pushing against a wall that doesn’t move — I see you.
But know this: you don’t need to fix the system to make an impact.
You just need to be one safe adult. One voice of belief. One person who sees beyond the labels.
That’s enough to change a life.
And sometimes… that’s enough to start changing the world.
